Mock Turtle

Mock TurtleMock Turtle in “Alice in Wonderland” went to school. Mock Turtle here, came to our hospital.

Rescued from a creek where he was stuck in the vines, Mock Turtle was admitted by the Kalyan Range Forest Division, to treat some abrasions on his flipper.

Mock Turtle brought Hope with him. This Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys Olivacea Eschscholtz,), in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act, was under our treatment for  the next few days. It was then decided to transfer him to a Marine Reptile Facility at Dahanu.

Here our partner organisation RAWW stepped in. While our ambulances wee busy with emergency rescues, RAWW took it upon themselves to transport Mock urtle to his new home in their ambulance, where his fitness will be measured before he is released back in to his home. The common thread in all stories of wildlife rescue is the absence of an advanced facility to treat and rehabilitate them, here, in advanced cities like Mumbai and Thane.

But we will keep hoping.

After all, hope is what makes us live.
